Purchasing Associate Job Description

While on the job as a Purchasing Associate, you will be assisting Buyers and Category Managers by managing the orders they place and overseeing any market cost price changes while also setting up and maintaining items in the system. Aside from that, you will review the purchased order confirmations to ensure accuracy prior to the items delivery and are also responsible for the order placement and replenishment of a select group of vendors.

Additional functions of the Purchasing Associate are to support other departments such as our Inside and Outside Sales Team when it comes to product information and sourcing, while also keeping in close contact with our Operations Teams to review receiving documents for all purchased orders and matches paperwork to hand off to Accounts Payable.  

Purchasing Associate Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Purchasing Job Salary

  • Pay for this position will be $21 per hour to start, commensurate with relevant experience.

Essential Purchasing Job Requirements

  • Responsible for matching Purchase Orders with vendor confirmations to match quantity and pricing as well as verify delivery date.
  • Responsible for setting up new item product codes for both stock and special items which requires thorough attention to detail.
  • Fills in for Buyer during time out of the office. This may include placing Purchase Orders, fielding calls from Inside and Outside Sales, as well as other daily demands.
  • Works with the Buyers and Category Manager(s) on special projects. These may include but are not limited to: checking stocked items to ensure accuracy in set up, reviewing the vendor master to update vendor and broker information, updating Kosher information and sourcing product nutritional information.
  • Supports the Purchasing Department with Food Shows, including working at a Food Show booth.
  • Supports Logistics and Operations in the tracking of supplier orders to ensure on-time delivery!
