CDL Class B Driver Job Description

The CDL Class B Driver position is responsible for supporting Ginsberg’s Foods sales efforts by delivering products to customers in an accurate and timely fashion.  To complete deliveries, CDL Class B Drivers navigate to locations on their route using a computer system on-board the vehicle and unload products from the truck by hand, using provided equipment to move the product to the appropriate location at the customer’s place of business.  CDL Class B Drivers frequently interact with customers, so a professional demeanor and appropriate attention to customer needs are essential in this position.  On occasion, a CDL Class B Driver may be required to assist another driver who has fallen behind schedule on a given day.  Also, a CDL Class B Driver may be responsible to pick-up and deliver backhaul loads to the warehouse at Ginsberg’s Foods.

Doubles CDL A Driver Weekly Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday: start and end times are flexible and vary day to day.
  • Start time 4am – 6am, end time 1pm – 6pm depending on route, case load, and number of stops.

CDL Class B Driver  Pay

  • $23/hr – $28/hr based on someone’s level of Class B driving experience.
  • Extra income beyond your hourly rate can be earned through quarterly performance and safety incentives. Overtime is available after 40 hours and is paid weekly.
  • If you have aspirations to grow towards your Class A license, more rapid pay progressions are available once transitioned to our Training Program!

Driver Experience

  • Coming in as a new hire, you won’t be thrown out directly on the road. Ginsberg’s offers paid on the job training by highly tenured professional trainers and mentors who want YOU to succeed, so you’re ready to get behind the wheel of our trucks.
  • To perform this job, you must be able to comfortably lift and maneuver cases that range from 1lb – 80lbs throughout a shift.

Driver Education

  • High School or higher

CDL Class B Driver Skills

  • Understand DOT Laws, Rules and Regulations
  • Ability to complete tasks at a fast-pace
  • Strong English language aptitude

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Reports to work on time minutes (before the scheduled departure time) to prepare for the day’s work.
  • Organizes the assigned paperwork for the day’s deliveries and maintains accurate reports and daily logs.
  • In accordance with Ginsberg’s Foods policy and procedures, conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the tractor and trailer.
  • Drives in a safe and courteous manner, obeying all DOT requirements and traffic laws and regulations.
  • Physically unloads heavy product from the truck at customer locations using a hand truck and ramps.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with customers, attempting to resolve concerns as they arise.
  • Receives cash from customers when necessary and handles cash in accordance with company policy.

Licenses/ Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Driver License with Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL)
    1. Clean driving record (no major violations in the past 36 months)
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.
