We’re seeking an experienced Lead Driver to oversee delivery operations outside at our Scotia & Hyde Park, NY domiciles. As a liaison between leadership and drivers, this position will provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to drivers while ensuring efficient logistics and excellent customer service standards are being met.
Additionally, the Lead Driver will provide timely feedback to leadership on territory opportunities and threats. They will also cover delivery driver duties in their absence, including short haul pickups and backhaul operations, which involve picking up and delivering loads to Ginsberg’s Foods warehouse.
Driver Weekly Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday: start and end times are flexible and vary day to day.
Lead CDL A Driver Pay
*At least 2 years of CDL A Delivery Driving experience is required to be eligible for this position*
- 1 – 2 years of CDL A delivery driving experience – $29/hr.
- 2 – 5 years of CDL A delivery driving experience – $30.50/hr – $33.74/hr.
- Have over 5 years of CDL A delivery driving experience? Great! Higher pay is negotiable in an interview based on years of driving!
Essential Job Requirements:
- Serves as a liaison between company and departmental leadership and the delivery drivers in the assigned territory, providing complete and timely communication on various topics.
- Identifies sources of delivery driver recruitment and actively seeks to add experienced drivers to the team when vacancies occur.
- Participates in the interviewing of prospective employees, including administering the road and pallet tests.
- Familiarizes him/herself with the scheduled work for the day; makes necessary adjustments to the helper assignments and routes to maximize efficiency and customer service.
- Trains and mentors new and existing delivery drivers in the assigned territory.
- Verifies that delivery drivers are organizing their assigned paperwork for the day’s deliveries and are maintaining accurate reports and daily logs.
- Performs random audits to ensure delivery drivers are conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the tractor and trailer.
- Ensures delivery drivers are properly preparing returns by properly securing load and ensuring proper temperature management as well as completing returns sheet.
- Frequently rides with delivery drivers in the assigned territory to execute many of the essential functions listed herein; shares the delivery responsibilities when riding with the delivery driver.
Licenses/ Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License.
- A minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience with Ginsberg’s Foods, with no discipline and/or avoidable accidents within the last two years.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
- Must take and pass ongoing random drug tests, including reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.
